Least expensive alarmed device on the market.
The V40 is an exceptional value. Most devices with alarms cost twice the price or more.
A mortise cylinder (not included) is used to arm/disarm the alarm and dogging the device. We provide the option above to order a cylinder along with the device.
If you furnish your own cylinder use a standard 1-1/4” cylinder with a straight cam.
Use the key to arm the device and illuminate the green LED. Use the key again to disarm the device and the red LED will illuminate.
The unit derives it’s power from a standard 9 volt battery. Should the battery become low the V40 will chirp. It’s always a good idea to keep an extra battery or two on hand. They can be purchased in any store.
EB in the model number means Electric Battery power.
Another version is also available that is hardwired into the building’s electrical system. The hardwired version is model EW for Electric Wired. It requires a transformer to reduce the voltage as well as a power transfer such as electric hinge or door cord. Call to order if you need this version.
The V40 mounts like any other exit device and screws to the surface of the door. You may also use through bolts for a stronger installation but they are not included in the box.
Should you have a solid wood or metal door mounting is simple. But if you have a glass door the device is too short to reach across the glass to both metal ends.
A standard glass door is 36” wide with 2” metal frame around the glass. This is also called an aluminum storefront door.
To reach the metal sides of the door the NSK1 add-on kit is required. The kit extends the length of the V40 by several inches.
The standard bar finish is 628 Aluminum. You may also order the bar in black. In either case the head is black and the device comes with a sticker to warn people that use of the door causes the alarm to sound.
